Description
Art print based on Vincent Van Gogh's 'Starry Night' painting (print doubles as a postcard!). You can just make out the turbulence equation swirling amid the sky.
Jupiter's red 'eye' and interstellar dust clouds are just a couple of examples of turbulence flow found in nature. In the early 2000's researchers digitized a selection of Van Gogh's paintings, and measured the luminance between any two pixels. They came to the conclusion that some of his paintings ('Starry Night' was one of them) displayed patterns incredibly similar to those found in fluid turbulence models. Amazing!
A unique gift for math geeks, physics lovers, eccentric artists, and anyone who loves science and Van Gogh. ^ . ^
